How to Edit and Link Buttons in Showit

Editing and linking buttons in Showit is super easy. I’ll walk you through how to do it so your site looks polished and every button leads exactly where you want it to.

1. How to Edit Button Text (Make It Pop)

1. Click on the button text you want to edit.
2. Edit the button text by typing directly inside the text box.
3. To adjust the text styling (font, size, color) use the Text Style panel on the right side while the text box is selected.
4. Once you’re finished editing the text box, click anywhere else on the screen.

Pro Tip: Keep your button text short and punchy. Think “Get Started,” “Book Now,” or “Join Us.”

2. Linking Your Buttons (aka Making It Do Something)

Once your button looks good, let’s make sure it actually works.

1. Select both the text element and the rectangle shape behind it (if it has the rectangle behind it -these two make up the button – Showit doesn’t have a native button element, haha)
2. With both selected, head to the “Click Actions” tab and click on the blue “Configure Link” button.
3. You’ll see a drop-down list of options such as:
   • Page: Link to another page on your website.
   • Scroll to Canvas: Smoothly scroll to a specific section on the same page.
   • URL: Send visitors to an external link (like Calendly, etc.).
   • Social Link: Use the social link you added in Site Settings.
   • Top of Page: Scroll to the top instantly.
   • Share on Social, Email, SMS, Phone: Trigger specific actions depending on your needs.
4. Choose the action that fits your needs. If it’s a page link, just select the page you want from the dropdown.
5. Pro Tip: Adding the link to both the text and the rectangle ensures the entire button is clickable, not just the text. This makes the user experience way smoother, since the cursor will turn “pointy” (clickable) over the whole button, just like on most websites.

3. Testing Your Buttons (Seriously, Don’t Skip This)

1. Click “Preview” in the top right.
2. Go button by button, clicking each one to make sure it leads to the right place.
3. If something isn’t right, just fix it by following the steps above.
